BY RIC DE VERA – Eighty-five golfer from Quakers Hill and chairman of the newly formed Kalabaw Super Senior Golfers Mr Danny Garcia won the inaugural “Araro” golf day held on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Rosnay Golf Course.
He scored 43 stableford points using his social handicap of 36, winning by count back.
“Am so happy with my win despite my awkward swing” said an ecstatic Danny. Wooden spoon winner was Ramie Tirol with his stableford score of 20 points. “I just wanted to walk while playing golf at the same time” said Ramie.
Other winners included Roger delos Reyes with stableford point score of 43 (CB) using his AGU handicap of 17, followed by Philip Ranoso with stableford score of 41 using his handicap of 26.
Kalabaw Super Senior Golfers (KSSG) founding President Albert MG Garcia conceived the launching of “Araro Day” to encourage super seniors and their friends to enjoy the golf followed by Chinese food at $10 each at Rosnay Golf Course.
The golfers had delightful breakfast before the tournament. Danny Garcia offered coffee or tea to everyone. Benjie Lualhati brought in pizza and croissant to the delight of everyone who did not have breakfast from their respective homes.
KSSG aims to help seniors or retired Filipino Australians who are interested to play golf by sharing with them the basics of the golf game as a community service for free.
The KSSG members headed by Danny Garcia set aside time for the beginners to start swinging the golf clubs at Llandilo Driving Range on specific days.
