Philippines Rugby League Comes to Sydney

Philippine based Philippine National Rugby League (PNRL) Tamaraws National Team will clash with the Niue Island rugby league team from Oceania in a rugby double header, in its historic first ever game in Sydney on Saturday October 4th  at an upcoming tournament at Wentworthville Leagues Club in Wentworthville, a Western  Sydney suburb near Parramatta.

The other match up will be the PNRL Tamaraws Under 23 versus Thailand

The Philippines National Rugby League (PNRL) is the governing body of Rugby League Football in the Philippines. Its mission is to enable all Filipinos to have a healthy lifestyle through their participation in Rugby League Football and to be competitive amongst the Asian Rugby League playing nations. 

 PNRL are calling on the support of the Filipino community in NSW. In the 2011 Census 70,388 people of Filipino-heritage lived in NSW, with 25,899 living in the Blacktown LGA, 4,350 in the Penrith LGA and 3,419 in the Parramatta LGA. So there are a lot of Filipinos living near Wentworthville Leagues Club and your National Rugby League team the Tamaraws needs your support to win these International games.

The PNRL would like the local Filipino community to also use the event to promote themselves on the day, especially those Filipino businesses that cater food; it will be FREE for you to set up a Food stall on the day with the PNRL expecting no financial contribution from you. The PNRL is here to support Filipino business on this historical day.

For those Filipino families with children interested in getting them playing Rugby League we will have an OZ Tag competition open to your sons and daughters to join in.

There will also be cultural dancers, of all heritages. We are also seeking anyone who has face painting, jumping castles, who wish to set up at no cost to you. So to the 70,388 Filipinos living in NSW, come along to the Wentworthville Leagues Club, 50 Smith St. Wentworthville on October 4 to support your National Rugby League team. Gates open at 1:00pm with the U23 game against Thailand starting at 2:00pm and the International against Niue starting at 4:30pm.
