Media and marketing outlets across NSW can now nominate for the annual Premier’s Multicultural Communications Awards.
The awards cover 11 categories recognising the exceptional work multicultural media outlets have done in reporting for their communities, and marketing companies and professionals for representing the diversity of NSW.
Premier Dominic Perrottet said the NSW Government was proud to host these awards, the only one of its kind in Australia.
“For five years our Government has proudly hosted these awards recognising the vital contributions professionals in the multicultural media and communications sector make here in NSW,” Mr Perrottet said.
“Their work translating vital health advice during the pandemic, keeping people informed in times of emergency and showcasing the charitable character of our vibrant, diverse communities has been key to keeping our State informed, safe and cohesive.”
Minister for Multiculturalism Mark Coure said the diversity of the State’s media and marketing landscape is one of the greatest qualities of our successful multicultural society.
“There is a newspaper, magazine, online publication or radio station for almost every language and culture here in NSW,” Mr Coure said.
“They speak directly to those communities, keeping them not only informed, but also connected to their culture and language.”
Included among the 11 categories are Publication of the Year, Best Audio Report, Best Text Report, Young Journalist of the Year, and Public Interest Award.
All eligible multicultural media and marketing professionals are welcome to apply for the awards, with nominations closing 5pm Wednesday, 8 June 2022. For more information, visit www.multicultural.nsw.gov.au.
