Philippine Independence Day Celebration in Penrith, NSW Amidst COV-19

Coordinated with the Penrith City Council, the 122nd celebration of Philippine national day was attended by 10 PLCAA officers clad in Philippine national attire, adhered to social distancing.

Those who attended were PLCAA President Aida Basto, guest and supporter Jun Relunia and wife Betty Relunia, PLCAA immediate past president Lionel Laserna, PLCAA founder Dr. Alexis Leones, Dodee Leones,Maria Teresa Dadios, Edgar Dadios, Marie Bandayrel, and Marcelita Castillo.

Penrith City Mayor Ross Fowler sent his message to PLCAA and the Filipino community. It was read by Dr. Alexis Leones. In previous years, Penrith City Council has hosted the event.

In a recent annual general meeting, PLCAA has elected the following officers: Aida Basto- president, Maya Ibarra – vice-president, Dr Alexis Leones – secretary, Alan Candelario – Treasurer, Imelda Summerfield – Auditor, and Marcelita Castillo – PRO. Board Members are: Beth Alcantara, Marie Bandayrel, Corazon Barreto, Maria Bock, Maria Teresa Dadios, Zenaida Hawley, Marichu Oreta and Jet Ramos.
