X-Factor stand-out stars will perform on 1st June 2014 at the Sydney Town Hall (Centennial Hall) in the heart of Sydney CBD on a one-off performance.
The event is proudly presented by the Filipino Community Cooperative Ltd, a not-for-profit community organisation which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
A ‘winners them all’ event, the concert will also feature Filipino-Australian champions of singing and dance competitions Lillian de los Reyes (Channel 10’s talent quest) Brian Lorenz (RSL Clubs singing competitions) and Kookies n Kream dancers (finalists of Australia’s Got Talent).
Dami Im, who is of Korean descent, won the X-Factor Australia 2013 series. She was a favourite to win after a string of standing ovations from judges and audience for 5 consecutive weeks. She swept Australia and became a household name.
Her first single “Alive” made history by topping the Aria singles chart upon release. Her aim in life is to keep on singing no matter what the outcome and wants to use the platform to be a good role model for younger people and raise awareness for different charities that are worthwhile supporting. With an amazing voice and piano skills to boot, Dami who is only 25, can be on centre stage for many years.
Rose Fostanes won the inaugural season of X-Factor Israel in January 2014 . After bagging the grand prize, Rose transformed from an anonymous care giver to a Israeli reality TV star. She became the darling of the judges and Israel audience after stand-out performances from her audition song Shirley Bassey’s “This is my Life” to Frank Sinatra’s signature song “My Way”.
Filipinos around the world followed her on YouTube and FaceBook. Her Cinderella story is reminiscent of Susan Boyle’s achievement in Britain’s Got Talent in 2009. Susan sang Les Miserables’ “I Dreamed the Dream” that made her a star overnight. Rose won X-Factor at 47 and so did Susan who won Britain’s Got Talent at 47.
Rose remarked after winning X-Factor Israel “Everybody in the world will know that Filipinos even those working as cleaners can be part of a big event like this.” She worked as a part- time singer in a Tel’Aviv and a full-time caregiver and cleaner.
The Filipino Community Cooperative Ltd will earmark part of the funds raised from this event for typhoon Haiyan victims through World Vision Australia Help after Haiyan project.
“Putting these 2 amazing talents together on one stage is an ambitious project”, the Cooperative’s chairperson Kate Andres remarked. “They are Asia’s pride and have inspiring Cinderalla stories to share. And yes, dreams can happen no matter what or who you are and where you come from”, she added. Event tickets are sold at $70 and $50.
