Nurses with exemplary services, to be feted March 23

Sydney based Adhika Inc in collaboration with the Philippine Health Care Association of Australia (PHCAA) and the Philippine Nurses Association of Australia (PNAA) will honour the contributions of nurses and health professional during a gala evening on Saturday 23 March at the Tivoli Room of Rooty Hill RSL Club, 55 Sheerbroke St., RootyHill, NSW.

Adhika Inc.is “a network of community broadcasters, producers, publishers” as it claims on its office letterhead, and broadcasts a weekly radio program of the same name  on community radio station WOW 100.5 FM radio in St Marys,NSW.

Mrs Josie Musa, Adhika, Inc public officer said “The attendance of NSW Health Minister the Hon. Julian Skinner as guest speaker at the recognition event indicates the importance that she and the Health Ministry are attributing to the Filipino-Australian nurses’ valuable and dedicated services to the community.”

Mrs Musa is coordinating the event along with Ella Magallanes, past president  and current director of the PNAA.

Musa said other guests during the night are University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Director of Nursing Studies Ms Aileen Wylie, Consul General Anne Jaando-on Louis representing Philppine Ambassador Belen Anota. Consul Marford Angeles, and NSW Member for Riverstone  Kevin Conolly, and NSW Multicultural Health  Communication Services (MHCS)  media manager Jess Helaratne .

Meanwhile, nominations for nurses who have performed exemplary services had been extended to 7 March  and the awards will be adjudicated by a panel of judges from the nursing profession, Musa said.

Entertainment during the night will be provided by the Sydney Sonata Singers, VIP Sydney Danzers, ballet dancer Rica Sey, and singer-composer Oliver Gadista and his band, Also appearing will the be the East Visayan Association cultural dancers, the Mindanao Ethnic Dancers, and special performance by artist, singer and composer from Manila Miguel Castro. Production team will be headed by Albert Prias and Charles Chn.
