A Holy Mass in remembrance of the victims of Typhoon Yolanda and the Bohol/Cebu earthquake in the Philippines will be celebrated by Fr. Ed Orilla on Friday, 22 November 2013, 5:30pm at the Bulwagang Rizal, Philippine Consulate General, Level 1, Philippine Center, 27-33 Wentworth Avenue, Sydney, NSW 2000.

The Filipino Settlement Coordinating Council of South Australia (FSCCSA) through its Chair Ben Hur Winter  and FBSA Chair Cynthia Vallejo together with respective committees have decided to cancel the annual FSCCSA Family Christmas Party supposed to be held on Sunday 1 December.  Instead funds will be donated to the FILCCA/FSCCA fund appeal to benefit victims of Bohol Earthquake and the subsequent Typhoon Yolanda which brought havoc to the provinces in Eastern Visayas and Central Visayas.  Christmas gifts for children already purchased may be arranged to be donated as Christmas presents to children of earthquake and typhoon victims.

Asian gourmet restaurant Holy Basil in Canley Vale, NSW  was able to raise $1,700  for the Australian Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan fund appeal, given by its customers as restaurant tips. Holy Basil is a favourite restaurant for young Filipino-Australian diners.

Philippine community leader Daisy Cummins and colleagues from the association Filipino Plaza were able to raise some $4,000  in the groups fund raising appeal for victims of Typhoon Haiyan by selling merchandising decorative “angel statuettes at a spot near the Blacktown station. Ms Cummins reported the project during the town hall meeting at the Philippine Consulate, last Friday 15 November.
