Joe Cura wins Rey Garcia Golf Cup

Mr Joe Cura from Woodcroft suburb won the 4TH Rey Garcia Golf Cup held at Rosnay Golf Course on 26th June 2021 organised by Tee-Riffic Birdies Puro Social golf club. Cura is a member of various Filipino social golf clubs. He scored gross strokes of 84 and net 59.3 using his social handicap of 24.7. He was awarded with trophy plus $100 cash prize.

First and second runner up winners together with their scores were: Nelson Catig as first runner up with his gross score of 81 strokes and net 63.1 after deducting his social handicap of 17.9. He was followed by Nap Estrada as second runner up with his gross score of 92 strokes and net 65.7 after deducting his social handicap of 26.3. These first and second runners up were awarded with trophies plus $60 each cash prize.

Third and fourth runner up winners together with their scores were: Benny Bacalla as third runner up with his gross score of 92 strokes and net 66.1 after deducting his social handicap of 15.9. Fourth runner up winner was Jose Rommel Gaerlan with his gross score of 88 strokes and net 67.6 after deducting his social handicap of 20.4, These third and fourth runner up winners were awarded with trophies plus $60 each cash prize.

The tournament was followed by sumptuous BBQ lunch courtesy of the ever-reliable food provider, Danny Garcia, assisted by Danny Martinez, Jim Gonzales, and other Puro officers/helpers. Fruit drinks were likewise provided by Danny Garcia.

The Rey Garcia Golf Cup which is now on its 4th year was organised by Tee-Riffic Birdies Puro Golf Limited headed by Toto Quintana as its president.  It was dedicated to Rey Garcia’s birthday and only to members of Puro Golf social club who have played eight games are qualified to play. “Let us play and have fun with the man himself on his special day” said Toto Quintana in his comments.

This golf tournament was the last event held before the NSW government declared strict lockdown and prohibited all golf tournaments. For exercise purposes, golfers must live within five kms from their residence, must wear face mask, two-some per flight and one golfer per cart are allowed.
