Dear Friends in the Community,
I was saddened by the news I received last night that our friend Lina Cabaero died yesterday. She was a Champion of the Migrant Workers, Human Rights and Women. She was proud to be a Filipina. I am honoured to have worked with Lina as a member of the Filipino Ministerial Consultative Committee which tackled various advocacies for the Filipino community.
I was also honoured to have joined her, and Sister Patricia Fox, both champions of Human Rights in the International Peace Conference organised by the United Nations Association of Australia in Sydney in 2018.
Other tributes to the late Lina are pouring in to Bobby Lastica Facebook account. Bobby gave a very good tribute to Lina.
Among those who shared tributes include –
Melba Marginson Member of FMCC from Victoria – Executive Director of Victorian Immigrant and Refugee Women;s Coalition
” You will be missed by many in the Australian trade union movement. May your legacy lives on, bravest of comrades !”
Norma Hennesey
: “My deepest condolences to the family of a respected colleague I have been blessed to know and connect with ( FMCC)”
Elvira Decena Gacis – Well Respected Filipino Seniors Leader
” Bobby your write-up for Lina makes me emotional. I can’t help my tears for such a great woman who worked for the ” naapi sa lipunan”: and for our rights in this country even in the Philippines without asking for honors, she is really one of a kind, fighter to the end”
Let us pause a minute silence remembering her and offering prayer for her. Eternal Rest grant unto Lina O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she Rest in Peace Amen
