Originally from Tonga and now Marayong resident Mr. Vili Mahe who is member of Sydney Metro Social Golf club won the inaugural Philippine Australian Sports and Culture (PASC) – Sydney Eagles Presidents cup charity golf held at Woodville Golf Course on Sunday, February 7, 2021.
Vili scored unbeatable 77 gross strokes less 13 handicaps under the System 36 method of scoring resulting to net 64. He was awarded with trophy plus $150 cash and the privilege to engrave his name in the monumental perpetual trophy. “Am so very, very happy with my win” said Vili with broad smile.
Division winners with their gross/net scores were: Lorenzo Aquino (77/66 CB) for Division 1, Benjie Lualhati (88/66 CB) for Division 2, Edd Tenorio (71/65 CB) for Seniors Division and Vangie Leones (90/72) for Ladies Division.
Division runners up with their gross/net scores were: Ros Sandoval (76/66 CB) for Division 1, Arnel Zaguirre (90/67) for Division 2, Danny Martinez (81/65 CB) for Seniors Division and Laura Marquinez (96/71) for Ladies Division.
Novelty hole winners on selected holes for longest drives, best drive & pitch and nearest the pins were awarded with golf balls and score card holders as follows: Hole 4 (D/P) Ros Sandoval; Hole 8 (D/P) Jim Gonzales; Hole 9 (L/D lady) Kate Andres; Hole 12 (L/D) Alvin Bernaldo; Hole 14 (NTP) Ed Tenorio; Hole 15 (NTP) Onie Miranda and Hole 17 (L/D) Jonathan Parva.
Some 51 participants were treated to sumptous meal at registration and before the tournament.
PASC Vice President Benjie Lualhati on behalf of President Marivic Ayap Flores thanked all the participants to the charity golf tournament billed as Presidents Cup which would now be the annual fund raising event of PASC. Major sponsors were Moneygram and MVA Financial Services among others.
The proceeds of this golf tournament will support PASC’s charitable works in the Philippines namely, the orphanage, University scholars, hospice for abandoned babies and recent disasters/calamities. The golf charity event was held in lieu of the Fiesta Kultura which was scheduled in October 2020 but was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic
