Tino Malubag bags POGI golf master

Pogi Maters winners 2020 G_n[31899]BY RIC DE VERA – Tino Malubag from Canterbury won the 2020 Phil-Oz Golf, Inc. (POGI for short) Masters Golf tournament held at Macquarie Links International Golf club on Sunday, October 18, 2020

. He scored gross stroke of 84 and net 66 after deducting his AGU handicap of 18 with Hurstville Golf club. He was awarded with crystal trophy, cash prize of $500 and the privilege to engrave his name in the monumental perpetual trophy. “I enjoyed joining this tournament for the first time and my putting was great. Thank you all, sa wakas naka tsamba” he finally said.

Division winners with their gross strokes, handicaps used and net scores were: Jeremy Zabat (Gross 78 less 11 = net 67) for Div 1; Rey Saballa (Gross 88 less 19 = net 69) for Div 2 and Andrew Lim (Gross 96 less 29 = net 67) for Div 3. These division winners were awarded with crystal trophies plus $200 cash prizes each for their exceptional efforts.

Division first runners up with their gross strokes, handicaps used and net scores were: Philip Punla (Gross 82 less 13 = net 69) for Div 1; Cris Bacucang (Gross 89 less 19 = net 70) for Div 2 and Francis Cunanan (Gross 105 less 32 = net 73 CB) for Div 3. These first runners up were awarded with crystal trophies plus $150 cash prizes each for their great efforts.

Division second runners up with their gross strokes, handicaps used and net scores were: Benny Villa (Gross 88 less 16 = net 72 CB) for Div 1, Rommel Gaerlan (Gross 93 less 22 = net 71) for Div 2 and Noel Santos (Gross 103 less 30 = net 73) for Div 3. These second runners up were awarded with crystal trophies plus $100 cash prizes each.

Novelty prizes were awarded per Division on all eighteen (18) holes at $25 per hole sponsored by selected charitable POGI members. Putting competition was won by Albert Abit who was awarded with $100 cash prize.

At registration – filling up of Covid 19 restriction tracing forms and waiver, everyone was handed with pack of banana, bottled water and muesli bar.

After the tournament, everyone was invited to have lunch at the Filoz Restaurant in Campbelltown City serving sumptuous Filipino food. This was followed by awards presentation. Master of ceremony was Chris Caraballo, the founding President of POGI. He invited several major sponsors to do presentation and promotion of their products.

The POGI Masters is the major golf tournament of Phil-Oz Golf Inc. which is now on its 12th year. In his message, Neil Narvais the incumbent president thanked all the 72 golfers coming from various Filipino social golf clubs and friends. He also thanked the major sponsors namely, Renting to buy (R2B), LW Phoenix (Alvin Rebulado), McGrath Mitsubishi Liverpool, Macarthur Memorial Park, Ed Montero, Mickey Cabillo, Vic Villacorta, Anda Carwash, Sunguard Tint and Link Finance as well as the 18-hole sponsors. He finally thanked the working committee for their tireless efforts in making the event successful. Until next time, he finally said.
