27,149 citizenship ceremonies on Australia Day 26 January

On Australia Day 26 January 2020, at least 1,531 Filipinos are scheduled to take Australian citizenship on Australia Day.

A total of 27,149 will take  Australian citizenship all over the country, according to statistics released by Acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs Mr. Alan Trudge.

The equivalent number of conferees for 2018 and 2019 were 12,087 and 15, 137 respectively.

Scheduled to attend citizenship ceremonies on 26 January by states are as follows: ACT -391, NSW – 6,436, NT – 231, Queensland – 6,881, SA – 2,188 , TAS – 565, VIC – 6,264, VIC – 4,463.

At least 440 citizenship ceremonies will be held through local councils and 12 through government departments and two other venues for total of 454 citizenship ceremonies.

By country of nationality, those to be conferred Australian citizenship are as follows: United Kingdom – 5,053, India – 4,031, China – 2,175, Philippines – 1,531, South Africa – 1,000, Vietname – 886, Pakistan – 847, Afghanistan – 814, New Zealand – 808. Iran – 658, Other nationalities – 9,616 for overall  total of 27,149 new Australian citizens,
