Blacktown-based Filipino Australian Movement for Empowerment or FAME called on the community to join its project under the Clean Up Australia’s Campaign on 1st March, 2015, to clean up the Rizal Park, Abraham St. Rooty Hill. FAME is now headed by community leader Neria Soliman of Hassal Grove who recently assumed FAME leadership following the resignation of Mr Max Encomienda of Woodcroft as FAME Executive Director. FAME is collaborating with another club the Order of the Knights of Rizal in cleaning up the park during its 6th year of supporting Clean Up Australia campaign. FAME , Inc, is a non-partisan lobby and advocacy group geared towards the active participation of Filipinos in Australia in Australia’s political processes. FAME held last July 12,2014, the movement held their “Munting Parangal” recognizing our countrymen who have joined in previous local, state and federal elections as candidates for a public office . A FAME director for number of years, Mrs Neria Soliman was a formerly president of the peak organisation Philippine Communties Council of NSW and a high profile community identity as chef and food writer as well as official of the women’s group Hot Mamas club. The FAME officers for 2015 is as follows: Neria Soliman, Executive Director, Cesar Bartolome- Assistant Exec. Director; Rod Dingle – State Secretary; Dennis Laxamana – State Treasurer; Emily Rudd- State PRO; Phillip Ranoso – State Auditor; Directors are Jade Cadelina, Ferdi Francisco, Ross Iglesia and Venus Priest. Clean Up Australia is an Australia-wide civic campaign founded by Mr. Ian Kiernan, OAM, formerly a yatching competitor, who spearheaded a widely followed clean up campaign of Sydney Harbour which attracted phenomenal support by of 40,000 volunteers on one Australia Day.
