300 join on Earth Day parade in Cadiz City

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines – About 300 environment crusaders paraded, danced and pledged for the protection and rehabilitation of Mother Earth during the recent Earth Day celebration in Cadiz City.

Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer Edgardo M. Rostata and staff led the celebration which started with a parade around the major thoroughfares in Cadiz City.

A Zumba Dance party for 30 minutes was participated in by those who joined the parade.

As a pledge of commitment to ensure protection of the earth to mitigate climate change, local government officials led by Vice Mayor Samson Mirhan, representatives of national government agencies, religious organizations and non-government organizations took their oath to take up the cause of environment protection.

According to a press release from CENRO-Cadiz, participants also brought in their valuable waste up for recycling.

Cadiz City’s theme for the celebration is “Earth Day Everyday, Everywhere for Everyone”.

The celebration aims to increase the level of awareness and participation of the public in solving issues related to environmental management and protection, and most pressing issues like climate change and Solid Waste Management.
