Moneygram Brings Western Wanderers FC to Fiesta Kultura, Oct 7

In a major boost for the Sydney Filipino community, MoneyGram  launched its sport community engagement program in association with the Sydney Kings and the Western Sydney Wanderers.

The 2013 MoneyGram Filipino sports program comprises a joint football and basketball event at Sydney Fiesta Kultura followed by Filipino celebration nights at Sydney Kings and Western Sydney Wanderers home games.

Launching the program at Sydney Kings Training Centre at North Sydney, Marketing Manager for MoneyGram Melanie Allan is looking forward to engaging the community through their favourite sports: “MoneyGram is grateful for its Filipino community support. Through our sponsorship of the Sydney Kings and the Western Sydney Wanderers Filipino nights, MoneyGram will to engage directly with the community through basketball and football and have a lot of fun at the same time.”

The program commences at Sydney Fiesta Kultura on October 7, 2013 at Fairfield Showground with the ‘MoneyGram Sports Day’, a joint basketball and football event featuring activities from both Sydney Kings and the Western Sydney Wanderers. The event will feature clinics for young footballers, ‘Penalty Shootout’ for kids 5-12 and free throw competitions.

Manny Castillo, President of the Philippine Australian Sports and Culture (PASC) and organiser of the Sydney Fiesta Kultura said: “We are happy to have both the Western Sydney Wanderers and the Sydney Kings at our event to engage with the largest annual gathering of Filipinos in Australia.”

The 2013 MoneyGram Filipino sports program will culminate in the inaugural Western Sydney Wanderers Filipino Celebration night on December 7 at Parramatta Stadium for their A-League home game against Melbourne Heart. The night will commence with Filipino cultural entertainment outside Parramatta Stadium and other highlights including Filipino community player mascots and small sided games at half time.

Western Sydney Wanderers Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman said engaging with the Sydney Filipino community is a key priority for the Western Sydney Wanderers: “We are delighted to launch our first ever Filipino community celebration night to help build our relationship with one of the major western Sydney Asian communities.”

“This program will allow us to share our unique match day experience and celebrate the diversity of western Sydney”. said Gorman.
