Dr Vicky Shepperd, Director of Communicable Diseases Branch, of the Health Protection agency of NSW Health has issued warning to the public, saying measles outbreak in South East Asia now requires vaccination reminder to all travellers.
More than 50 cases of measles have been reported in NSW this year.
Measles is highly contagious among people who are not fully immunised and is spread through coughin and sneezing.
Cases of measles have been brought back to Australia by under-vaccinated young travellers to Philippines and Southeast Asia,
These people have gone on to infect other under-vaccinated people in the community, including young babies.
To help control the spread of measles newspapers and media are promoting this warning.
