BY DEMI ROBINSON – Sydney Sonata Singers are sure to impress its audience as they perform 4 songs to a virtual live streaming for the Philippine Consulate General on 22 May 2021 to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Philippine Australian Relations.
Under the direction of Event Manager Chi De Jesus and photographer Bob Reyes, a video shooting of the SONATA’s performance was rendered at the Blacktown Max Webber Library Function Room on Sunday 18th April 2021. They were requested to sing the Philippine National Anthem ‘Lupang Hinirang’ and the Australia’s National Anthem Advance Australia Fair. Highlights of their performance were their rendition of two Philippine traditional songs namely, ‘May Bukas Pa’ and ‘Fiesta’.
With the four songs, the choreography was astounding as SONATA appeared in four different costumes to portray the messages of each song. The Choirmaster Loy Tagudin was impeccable in her costumes as well as the entire members of SONATA.
The Sydney Sonata Singers has commenced the year 2021 with a bang and two big events are scheduled this year to re-connect with the community. They will appear as Guest Performers on the Refugee Day event at Couchmans Park, St Marys under the auspices of the Penrith City Council on Saturday 25th June 2021. It is envisaged that whilst COVID restrictions are currently being eased, invitations from community organisations for SONATA to perform will be scaled down as the group prepares for their cultural concert.
SONATA will hold its Cultural Concert on Sunday 14th November 2021 at the Bowman Hall 35 Campbell St Blacktown. WATCH THIS SPACE. We will announce further details as the event draws to a close.
