Alex Hawke is new Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs

Following his appointment. Alex Hawke  said on twitter: “Grateful to be asked by PM to serve as Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services & Multicultural Affairs in the @ScottMorrisonMP Government. Australia’s great migration story will continue to be an essential part of our ongoing prosperity, success & recovery

Previously, Mr Hawke served as Minister for International Development and the Pacific since 2019 under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has served as Member of Parliament for Mitchell since 2007. He served as Special Minister of State from 2018 to 2019.

He was born 9 July 1977  in Wollongong.

Hawke’s maternal grandparents migrated from Greece in 1953 as part of the post World War II migration to Australia from Europe.

He is one of a number of ministers in the Morrison Government who are affiliated with Hillsong, including Scott Morrison and Stuart Robert.

Hawke joined the Liberal Party in 1995, and was elected vice-president of the NSW Division of the Young Liberal Movement in 2001, and became president in 2002.
