Following the highy successful and competitive soccer football trials held at Fiesta Kultura last October 7, the Sydney based Azkalroos Seniors team from the Azcalroos Football Academy of Cronulla,NSW are set to take on the NSW Nepalese All Stars in complex at Caringbah on Sunday Nvember 17, 2013.
The Azkalroos Academy coaching director and former Philippine team Azkal International Leigh Gunn expects a tough game, “The Nepalese community are serious football fans and their players will give us a test. Our players can’t wait to represent the Filipino Australian community.
Azcalroos Football Academy coaching Director Andrew Fletcher is thrilled with the match up and said, “We are grateful to the Australian Nepalese Football Association for agreeing to play us and we look forwr to showcasing the growing tent in the community.”
Prior to the Senior Men’s game, the Azkalroos Football Academy will host specialised coaching an a 5-a-side junior games for some of the young talent that participated in the football trials at the Fiesta Kultura.
The Azkalroos Seniors vs Nepalese All Stars event will be the first of a number of games with representative teams of other communities in the lead up to the AFC Asian Cup 2015 which will be held in Australia to boost Asian Australian football.
The AFC Asian Cup will not only be the biggest football event ever held in Australia but also the biggest Australian sporting event since the Sydney Olympics.
The Philippine national team Azkals are a chance to play in the Asian Cup should they win the 8 team AFC Challenge Cup to be held in Maldives in May 2014.
