There were seventeen (17) members who braved the chilly winter afternoon, but better course condition and enjoyed the game of golf that they all love.

“Happy Independence Day” said Vangie Leones, the organiser of the group and before teeing off along with Boy Beroya and Aristotle Ortanez.

Overall winner for the day was Miguel Soria who scored gross stroke of 51 and net 34.3 after deducting his handicap of 16.7. He was the only participant who scored under par and was classified as winner for Div B.  Division A winner was Jun David with his gross stroke of 50 and net 38.2 after deducting his handicap of 11.8.

Meanwhile, the 27th Kalayaan Cup Golf tournament which was normally held during the Queen’s birthday long week-end and to celebrate the Philippine Independence day was postponed due to the sub-standard conditions of the course venue. This is the biggest and well attended golf tournament in the Filipino-Australian golfing community in New South Wales. This has been organised by the Organising Committee of Kalayaan, Inc. currently headed by Cris Bacucang. “We apologise for the postponement of the Kalayaan Cup Golf tournament, but that is the only way in order for the participants to enjoy their golf while celebrating the Philippine Independence day with us” said an apologetic Cris Bacucang
