Alano wins Lito Mercado Memorial Golf Cup

Renato Boy Alano of Oakhurst and member of various Filipino social golf clubs won the inaugural Lito Mercado Memorial Cup held at Rosnay Golf Course on May 13, 2021. He scored unbeatable net stroke of 57 using his handicap of 24 under the modified stroke system of scoring. He was awarded with Kalabaw trophy and the privilege to engrave his name in the perpetual trophy.

First runner up winner was Jess Noli Lopez with his net stroke of 61 using his social handicap of 31 and followed by Dads Morales with his net stroke of 62 using his social handicap of 29 as second runner up winner. Both runner up winners were awarded with Kalabaw trophies for their fantastic efforts.

Third and fourth runner up winners were Carlos Perez with his net stroke of 64 using his Sydney Jokers handicap of 16 and Philip Ranoso with his net stroke of 64 losing by count back, using his social handicap of 26, respectively. Both runner up winners were awarded with Kalabaw trophies for their best efforts.

There were twenty six (26) participants, mostly members of the Kalabaw Super Senior Golfers, Sydney. They were treated with light breakfast with coffee or tea courtesy of Danny Garcia, Chairman of KSSG, before teeing off,

After the tournament, everyone was ushered to the Chinese Bistro for their sumptuous Chinese food and drinks, followed by presentation of awards. In his message Albert MG Garcia, the founding president of Kalabaw Super Senior Golfers, presented a memento to the family of Lito Mercado. He mentioned that Lito was one of the founding members of the Kalabaw Super Senior Golfers and very helpful during various golf clinics. He expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family on behalf of the group..

One of the main goals of the Kalabaw Super Senior Golfers was to conduct golfing clinics to seniors and/or retired Filipinos who are interested in playing golf. The 5th and latest clinic was held on June 7, 2021, at Llandilo Diving Range wherein around twenty beginners and their friends were in attendance. Sumptuous food and fruit drinks were supplied courtesy of Danny Garcia, There were already a dozen of beginners who graduated and were given free sets of golf clubs, courtesy of some donors and friends.
