There are four separate celebrations in four locations in Sydney to commemorate on Monday 30 December the death anniversary of the Philippines’ national hero Dr Jose Rizal. It will be the 123rd death anniversary of Rizal who was executed in Bagumbayan now Luneta in Manila.
The Order of the Knights of Rizal (KGOR) led by Mr Cesar Bartolome, KGOR Regional Commander for Australia, New Zealand and Oceania (ANZO) is inviting the public to join them in the commemoration activities including the laying of wreath.
Mr Danny Peralta, KGOR Area Commanded for Eastern Australia said the commemorations will be held in the following locations:
- from 0800 hrs at Ibero Plaza, Chalmers Street Surry Hills, NSW just beside Sydney Central Station along Elizabeth and Chalmers street exit. NB. Please note that after the ceremony at Ibero Plaza, the Knights of Rizal delegation including the collaborated partner organization Kababaihang Rizalista and other Filipino leaders of the community invited by ConGen Ezzedin Tago will proceed to the Philippine Consulate for Sentro Rizal ceremony which will commence at 0900hrs.
- from 1100hrs at Ashfield Park where Knights of Rizal Bob Alipalo, KCR Chapter Commander of the Northern Sydney Chapter will lead the ceremony.
- from 3:30pm at Rizal Park, Abraham Street, Rooty Hill. This will be hosted by both Sydney and Western Sydney Chapters lead by Cesar Bartolome, KGOR Regional Commander ANZO Region and Danny Peralta, KGOR Area Commander Eastern Australia ANZO Region. Snacks will be provided after the program.
- In addition to the above activities, the public is also invited to join the commemoration of the 123rd death anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal at Campbelltown hosted by Rizal Park Movement in Campbelltown (RPMC) c/- Campbelltown Councilor Rey Manoto which start from 11:30am.
Mr Peralta said the commemorative theme endorsed by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) is “Jose Rizal: Huwaran ng Pilipino sa Ikadalawampu’t Isang Siglo”
