BY MARCO SELORIO – Bruno Mars, the world’s hottest music star in the world right now, is coming to Australia next month. The charismatic singer/songwriter/producer/director and musician is bringing his 24K Magic World Tour Down Under from March 7-29 with a series of fourteen shows across five Australian States.
Mars is a pop culture icon, with a staggering 8.4 billion views and 58 million followers on Facebook, 40.8 million on Twitter, 19 million on YouTube and 17.5 million on Instagram.
Peter Gene Hernandez, or better known as Bruno Mars, was born and raised in Hawaii to a Filipina mom and Puerto Rican father. Mars grew up listening to Elvis Pressley, Michael Jackson and Little Richard. Some of his many musical inspirations include Keith Sweat, Jodeci and R Kelly.
With a mixture of soul, funk and 90’s R&B sound, Mars tugged at the heartstrings of many music fans. His latest release has topped his two previous studio albums. “ 24K Magic” recently garnered a record haul seven Grammy Awards. His critically acclaimed album has been sitting on top of the Billboard R&B charts for the last 21 weeks.
How does he do it?
“I don’t sit down and think, “I’m going to write a song”, because you can’t force creativeness,” said Mars.
“The music brings people together. It’s not urban music or pop music. They’re just songs. That’s what makes it cross over so well. The song comes first,” he added.
Some of his chart-topping hits include Just the Way You Are, When I Was Your Man, The Lazy Song, Grenade, Locked Out Of Heaven, Treasure, That’s What I Like, 24K Magic and collaborations with Mark Ronson (Uptown Funk), B.o.B. (Nothin’ On You), Travie McCoy (Billionaire) and Snoop Dogg (Young Wild and Free).
His highly anticipated world tour produced by Live Nation has generated plenty of buzz amongst Filipino and Australian fans across the country. In a television appearance on Saturday Night Live, Mars declared his pride for being a Filipino, endearing him even more to Pinoys across the globe.
Mars is indeed a master showman and the consummate performer. Expect nothing but pure joy once the 24K Magic tour hits Australia.
