BY RICHARD FORD – Miss Rica Sey is our 2015 Miss Visayan contender for the Miss Philippines-Australia Crown.
The Lugarno jazz -ballet dancer Rica Sey was crowned 2015 Miss Visayas-Australia at a gala night last August 1st in Liverpool, NSW celebrating the 12th anniversary of the Visayan Association of Australia.
Last year’s Miss Visayas and Miss Philippine Australia Queen Glyssa Perez, officially handed over the crown to Ms Sey, after having fulfilled her commitments including the Association’s appeal for the Haiyan typhoon victims and feeding the poor in the Visayan island of Leyte.
Association President Jhun Salazar said the Association is conducting another feeding program in the Visayan region and continuing its existing College Scholarships in Leyte.
“We are currently funding six scholars, four of which have already graduated from the Visayas State University (VSU) in Baybay, Leyte. We also have one scholar at the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) in Ormoc City.
“We are planning to add 10 new scholars – five for VSU and five for EVSU.
During the charity dinner-dance, medals and certificates of appreciation were awarded on stage to the past Mrs VAAs, Association affiliates and supporters.
Entertainment featured Sharlene Gamo, Catherine Tiatoo, Annie Marquez, Christine, Stephanie Bernardo, Linda Trinidad, Brian Lorenz, the VAA Dance Group, and a Kuratsa with Daniel (Dizzy) Lofranco and Dian Ford supported by the Mindanao Ethnic Dance group of APCO (Alliance of Philippine Community Organisations) Inc.
