SAN JUAN, Philippines – Goverrnment program beneficiaries call for the continuation of “tuwid na daan” as reflected in their testimonies and success stories told during an event at Club Filipino in San Juan City, Friday.
Alyana Ternate, Pantawid Pamilya Program beneficiary, now enrolled at the University of the Philippines to pursue her college education id not only gave her testimonies, she also co-hosted the program for Roxas’ special day.
An entrepreneur from Guimaras and a call center agent each told their stories on how they were able to improve their lives with the government’s help.
Different stories, different struggles, but they do have one thing in common. Like everyone gathered in Club Filipino yesterday, they all wanted the “tuwid na daan” governance to continue.
Ternate said she wanted to finish her college education, to get a job, to help her family. She said her wishes will come into reality if what has been started by the current administration will be continued by somebody who has the integrity and the willingness to continue the reforms made by the current administration.
Her wishes was somewhat granted as President Benigno Aquino made an announcement during the event saying that DILG Secretary Mar Roxas is his preferred successor.
Aquino added that he is confident Roxas will continue his reform agenda.
“Siguradong may kakayahan, siguradong walang ibang boss kundi taumbayan, siguradong walang pinagkakautangan ng loob,” he said of Roxas.
The event was attended by members of the ruling Liberal Party, led by Senate President Franklin Drilon and House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., Cabinet members and several civil society organizations.
