117 Gov’t Internship Program grantees urged to follow rules

NUEVA VIZCAYA, Philippines – Officials of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the provincial government here have encouraged grantees of the Government Internship Program (GIP) to follow government rules properly and strictly.
Gerardo Nicolas, DOLE’s GIP coordinator, said the GIP grantees must observe being in the office on time and perform their assigned tasks as these will be the preparatory stepping stone of the beneficiaries in pursuing their career in the government.
He said that the provincial government, the major employer of the GIP grantees, has already employed several of its beneficiaries in the first batch.
Nicolas said there are 126 applicants for the second batch of the GIP where 117 of these have been approved by the DOLE regional office.
GIP grantees will be working in various the government agencies for six months.
Their salaries will be subsidized by the DOLE at P191.00 per day.
