CSC endorses “10 Kumainments”

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – The Civil Service Commission has enjoined all government agencies, bureaus and instrumentalities to adopt and help disseminate the “11” developed by the National Nutrition Council.
The “10 Kumainments” contain the shorter and simpler messages of the 2012 Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) for better understanding and recall.
In a Memorandum Circular signed by CSC Acting Chairman Robert S. Martinez, dated March 15 this year, it was provided that all government agencies help to promote public awareness on the guidelines.
Nona Tad-y, NNC-6 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, told members of the Western Visayas Nutri-Media Circle, that it is expected that government agencies shall undertake activities to disseminate the “10 Kumainments.”
The CSC circular encouraged the agencies to undertake activities that can include any of the following:
• Issue a department circular enjoining all units to ensure widest dissemination of “10 Kumainments”
• Include relevant information in agency website, social media and post the “10 Kumainments” in conspicuous areas;
• Use the “10 kumainments” as guide for the formulation of menus for meetings, seminars, conferences and other events;
• Conduct seminars using the AVP which can be downloaded via http:/tinyuri.com/10kumainmentsAVP.
The circular also states that activities need not be limited to the above.
Tad-y said that the memo circular of the CSC also stated that the promotion and dissemination of the NGF and the “10 Kumainments” seek to develop positive nutrition practices and a healthy lifestyle for Filipinos.
The “10 Kumainments are:
10) Maging aktibo. Iwasan ang alak;huwag manigarilyo.

The NNC-6 is planning a big launching for the “10 Kumainments” soon, according to Tad-y.
