BY RIC DE VERA Danny Martinez from Marayong and member of several Filo social golf clubs won the 7th Oblation cup fund raising tournament at Rosnay Golf Course on April 6, 2015.
He scored stunning gross stroke of 73 and net 65 under the System 36 method. He received $200, a monumental trophy and the privilege to engrave his name on the perpetual trophy. “I did not expect to win due to lack of sleep the night before. But that’s why I love golf because you win when you least expect it, with a bit of luck” said an ecstatic Danny.
Grade winners with their corresponding net scores were: Kit Sta. Barbara (67) back-to-back for A, James Frazer (66) for B and Ric de Vera (67) for C. These winners received trophy plus $150 each for their great efforts.
Grade runners up with their corresponding net scores were: Bernie Balagtas (68) for A; Alvin Rebulado (67) for B and Ramon Estoque (68) for C. These runners up received trophy plus $100 each for their best efforts.
Nearest the pins on all par three holes were awarded $25 each, namely: Arnie Santos (hole 2), James Frazer (hole 5), Romy Aquino (hole 6), Joe Baduria (hole 9), Joe Cura (hole 10), Tony Vivero (hole 12), Max Borromeo (hole 16) and Kit Sta. Barbara (hole 17).
There were seventy five (75) golfers who participated in this fund raising golf tournament presented by UPAAA-NSW Chapter, Inc. and coordinated by Engineer Ferdi Francisco.
During the program and awards presentation, Dr Cora Francisco thanked all the golfers and mentioned the names and schools of the scholars being supported by UPAAA-NSW Chapter, Inc. followed by the singing of the UP Hymn. On the other hand, the coordinator Engineer Ferdi Francisco expressed his appreciation to all golfers for a very good turn-out and for the perfect weather.
He likewise specifically thanked the presidents/heads of different Filipino social golf clubs for supporting this fund raising project, i.e. Chris Caraballo (Pogi), Rey Garcia (Golf ParE), Ralph Posadas (Jokers), Chris Pangilinan (Par-X), Arnie Santos (Fairgolf), Ric de Vera (Fil-oz), Mike Garcia (DivoTees) Vangie Leones (West Sydney Golf) and Alvin Rebulado (representing Serge Jumonong (Puro/Marsden Park). He handed each one a sleeve of golf balls. On his part, UPAAA-NSW Chapter President, Jet Aserios thanked everyone for their support and invited them to come back next year for another series of this fund raising golf tournament.

All proceeds will go towards the Scholarship program of UPAAA-NSW Chapter, Inc.
