PNP assures security on Independence Day

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police will hold simultaneous flag-raising ceremonies in all police camps around the country in celebration of the 116th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence Day today.

At the PNP National Headquarters (NHQ) in Camp Crame, members of the PNP Command Group and Directorial Staff will lead Independence Day rites with a flag-raising ceremony to be attended by police personnel from NHQ-based Units and Offices.

Similar ceremonies will be held in all 17 Police Regional Offices led by the respective Regional Directors.

In coordination with the National and Local Organizing Committees, the PNP will also provide security coverage and public safety measures in all places of engagement.

In Naga City, His Excellency President Benigno S Aquino III will lead memorial honor ceremonies for the “15 Martyrs of Bicol” at the Plaza Quinse Martirez. He will be joined by Cabinet members, and military and police officials including PNP Chief, Police Director General Alan L Purisima.

The Chief PNP has instructed Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5) Regional Director PCSupt Victor P Deona to provide security measures to ensure the peaceful conduct of “Araw ng Kalayaan 2014”.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will also provide at least 1,000 personnel for security coverage and traffic assistance during the activities to be held at Rizal Park, Manila where Vice President Jejomar Binay will serve as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. Likewise, the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR) together with the Police Community Relations Group (PCRG) will install PNP Service Booth for the establishment of Job Fair, Static Display, PNP Frontline Services, and Complaint Assistance Desk.

Special Action Force (SAF) is also tasked for the augmentation of K9 Unit during the Independence Day celebration at the historical Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite.

The PNP will also provide maximum deployment of police officers and Civil Disturbance Management (for mass protests) in all places of engagement to ensure peace and order during the celebration of the Independence Day.
