Good Samaritans including the Philippine Community Council of NSW (PCC-NSW) continue to support the needs of Juriel Amura, now a young man of 17, who was born without legs and with only one arm.
After skipping 2013, Juriel Amora who plans to take up IT studies in the Philippines, is back in Sydney for his yearly upgrade of artificial limbs by the Appliance and Limbs Centre in the Sydney inner suburb of Redfern.
He is accompanied by his father Joel.
The Appliance and Limb Centre in innner Sydney suburb Redfern underwrites the new artificial limb every year whilst the peak organisation PCC-NSW) provides coordination and networking with Filipinos in Sydney for additional help.
New Zealand farmer and part-time Christian missionary Mr. Danny Simms and his group continues to champion the cause of Juriel whom he discovered in small barrio in Bohol, Philippines , as limbless little boy who move about in the neighbourhood with the aid of a worn out skateboard, because of his physical defects.
Danny Simms and his group provides for the airfare for the yearly travel to Sydney.
As per arrangement with supporters, Juriel will receive the yearly assistance until he is 21 years old. PCC-NSW was among the institutions which were touched by the public appeal of Mr Simm. In 2011, the New Zealander attributed the stream of support to Juriel as the triumph of “love of God and the Holy Spirit.”
PCC-NSW had coordinated the pair’s homestay whilst in Sydney with several individuals and representatives of affiliate organisations. Juriel and dad are usually given reception during PCC-NSW’s Independence Day Ball in early June.
