TerraCycle Novel Recyling Launched

Waste items (258x258)April 4 – TerraCycle, the innovative global recycling company, today announced its official launch into Australia.

TerraCycle has kept more than 2.6 billion pieces of waste from landfills around the world through innovative recycling programs called “Brigades®”. This is the first time TerraCycle’s recycling system which already operates in 23 countries including the US, Canada, the UK and New Zealand will be available in Australia.

In Australia TerraCycle has partnered with major brands Colgate and Natures Organics to recycle their “unrecyclable” post-consumer waste, and with Nespresso to expand their recycling program. Australians can now send in their previously difficult-to-recycle waste to TerraCycle to be recycled into sustainable consumer products and materials.

“This is just the beginning and a big step for recycling in Australia. We’re thrilled to be bringing our innovative recycling model to Australia with our consumer product brand partners to recycle previously “unrecyclable” and “difficult to recycle” waste, creating a better end of life solutions for the waste.

“Our recycling Brigades® engage the community around resource conservation and sustainability, and allow collectors to raise money for their local school or favourite charity.” said TerraCycle Australia, General Manager, Anna Minns. “The Terracycle Brigade is a great community initiative that we’re proud to be involved in. The Oral Care Brigade will be the first of its kind in Australia.

“Through this, consumers can now recycle the oral care items that have not previously been accepted by traditional channels, such as toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes.” said Chris Pedersen, Vice President& General Manager, Colgate-Palmolive South Pacific.

“Natures Organics are proud to launch the Cleaner Packaging Brigade® with TerraCycle, designed to recycle used cleaning items such as pumps and triggers. We believe the program is a great step towards finding sustainable solutions to discarded cleaning packaging items, creating a positive impact on the environment,” said Maree Gauci, Marketing Manager Natures Organics.

“We are delighted to expand our recycling scheme in Australia with the Nespresso Coffee Capsule Brigade. Building on partnerships in Canada and the US, TerraCycle provides a unique opportunity to support local communities and make it easier for our Club Members to recycle their used Nespresso capsules.” said Renaud Tinel, General Manager Nespresso Oceania.
