Unbeknown to many, there is a close knit group of Filipino-Australian teachers at TAFE Sydney Institute at Ultimo who gather together on important occasions including Christmas
Staff of Filipino ancestry at TAFE Sydney Institute in Ultimo held their annual reunion at Marriott Hotel Sydney, enabling present and former workmates to catch up and enjoy a Christmas celebration.
Among those present at the seafood buffet lunch were Evita Cabanilla, Janice Evangelista-Cekanauskas with her son Lachlan, Francis Cruz, Mely Estanislao, Maria Lorna Horan, Carmelo Loreto, Albert Nera, Evelyn Opilas, Manolita Pasion, Nita Robertson, Betty Tanglao and Jophine Teagle.
They work or have worked in various sections at TAFE Sydney Institute including administration, records, purchasing, finance and public affairs.
Maria Lorna Horan has been organising the reunion and gift-giving each year, the activity being a sought after event among Pinoy staff at TAFE NSW (Technical and Further Education New South Wales).
