Girl power swept through the newest URBANSTAR Talent Quest last Sunday at Burwood RSL. 11-year old Filipina-Australian youngster Ylona Garcia from Edensor Park and eighteen year old Jasmin Nasser from X-Factor group ELEM5NT won the Kids/Teen Division and Adult Open Division respectively.
Jasmin is a local girl who is a product of singing school Platinum Vocal Studio in Burwood, while Ylona recently volunteered her talent to help raise funds for Heart Work, an initiative of FAACES.
URBANSTAR event director Marco Selorio said, “There were so many amazing talents, the judges found it hard to come up with a decision. We congratulate both Ylona and Jasmin as our 2014 Sydney champions.”
K-Sera, radio host of The Edge 96.1FM and one of the judging panelists said, “I had a ball and was very impressed with the talent level at URBANSTAR.”
Last year’s URBANSTAR Sydney show unearthed Jai Waetford, who placed third overall in X-Factor and is now touring nationally alongside the Justice Crew.
Both girls will advance into the URBANSTAR National Finals in October.
