IMG_9412 (2) (320x213)IMG_9410 (2) (320x213)Some 130   church ministry  leaders and youths from ten Western Sydney congregations joined  a spiritual renewal seminar  known as “Nazirite Training” in Western Sydney, which is hoped to stir up spiritual revival  in Sydney and subsequently in Australia especially among the youth population.

The seminar which is licensed and being promoted by the spiritual renewal movement Jesus Revolution or Jesus Rev which is based in the Philippines is regarded as  an answer to the growing  problem of extreme secularism and lack of spiritual direction among the youth of today.

Rev Pastor Jerome Ocampo chair of  Jesus Rev, assisted by team of facilitators coming from the Philippines and the U.S.A.  geared his teachings towards “bridging the  young and the old generations” during the first week at the Come to Jesus church in Glendenning, NSW and during the second week at the Jesus is Lord or JIL church in Arndell Park, NSW.  Ps Ocampo is also senior pastor of the church congregation Jesus Flock in Marikina City, Philippines.

Volunteer facilitators who came with Pastor Ocampo were his wife Abel Ocampo, Sionette Garcia, Mutya Torres and Vida Rivera from the Philippines and Mr Randy Patton and Terry Patton ,from Las Vegas, USA.

Held on 2-1/2 hour per night sessions and a weekend module, the seminars consisted of phase-1 teaching titled “Humility” and phase-2 teaching titled “Holiness”, both of which were regarded by participants as practical and eye-opener. The concept about “pride of the worm” and “pride of the big wheel” especially struck into the  docile Filipino sensibility as hindrance to personal character growth.

Ps Ocampo said Jesus Rev which has grown across churches, ethnicity, politics and nationalities started in the Philippines as an offshoot of mass Christian youth prayer rallies during the turbulent political times more than a decade ago in the Philippines.

Jesus Rev is now an international ministry involved in public prayer assemblies and conducts  the Nazirite spiritual renewal training seminar upon invitation of local churches and congregations.

Ps Ocampo said his team is heavily booked in ministry appointments internationally this year including a  similar Nazirite training in Seoul, Korea; New Jersey, USA and California, USA  in February and two others in Malaysia and Myanmar in March.

Ps Ocampo has offered  to accredit some local Sydney congregations to hold another Nazirite phase 1 and 2 training midyear in 2014 and to schedule the third and last module called “Hunger” by January 2015.

Churches represented during the forth night long seminar included Come to Jesus church (Glendenning), Jesus is Lord (Arndell  Park),  Jesus Our Banner (Seven Hills), House of Prayer church (Rooty Hill),  True Freedom in Christ church (Blacktown), FCF Life Centre (Minchinbury),  Joy of Life church (Granville), Church of Living God (Arndel Park), Blessed Community Church (Epping) and Hillsong Asian Extension.

Ps Bob Cabrera of the Joy of Life church (Granville) said the message of the Nazirite training is very timely and relevant and need to be heard by the bigger Filipino migrant community in Sydney.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Ps Ocampo thanked both the host churches Come to Jesus church and the JIL church as well as its original contact and facilitating church in Sydney the FCF Life Centre of Minchinbury and its senior pastor Rev. Rudy Tan.
