Jan. 21 – NSW Minister Jillian Skinner tody reminded school leavers or those interested in career change to take advantage of 300 scolarships for the diploma of Enrolled Nursing program now on offer by the NSW government.
NSW Health in partnership with the Department of Education and Communities, is running the program in which students will train at metropolitan and rural TAFE NSW colleges as well as the NSW Heatth Registered Training Organisation at Rozelle and Liverpool.
Mrs Skinner aid enrolled nurses play a vital role in supporting patients on their way to recovery.
“Enrolled nurses work with health care professionals such a registered nurses, specialists nurses, physiotherapists, occupational theraists, doctors, social workers and phamacists,” Mrs Skinner said or mental health units.
“I strongly recommend anyone wit the essential skills to provide preventive, curative and rehabilitative nursing apply for these scholarships.”
“They care for and support patients in a range of facilities including aged care centres, operating theatres, paediatric hubs, or mental health units.”
“Most importantly, there will be a guaranteed offer of a job at a NSW public hospital upon successful completion of the course.
“I am delighted that these scholarships will cover the course fees for the Diploma of Enrolled Nursing qualifications for up to 300 students.”
Scholarships applications opend in December 9 lst year and close on February 12 2014. Applications are invited from HSC school leavers, mature age applicants or those who have already completed a Certificate III or equivalent qualification.
Selections for the scholarship involves a written application, basic literacy and numeracy, and interview. Successful scholarships applicants will commence the TAFE Coure in April this yer and the curse run fr between 2 and 18 months.
