QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) will soon start the implementation of the Expanded Age Coverage (EAC) for the programs Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino and Modified Conditional Cash Transfer for Homeless Street Families (MCCT-HSF).
Under the EAC program, starting June 2014, the age coverage of children beneficiaries will no longer be limited 14 years old but will be extended to 15 to 18 years old.
The age expansion will enable the children-beneficiaries to graduate from high school in accordance with the K-12 program of the Department of Education (DepEd) and eventually have better opportunities than those who will only finish elementary education
“The DSWD-NCR is now undertaking preparatory activities regarding the upcoming validation of potential beneficiaries for the EAC program. We aim to register some 90,404 children in Metro Manila.” DSWD-NCR Regional Director Alice Bonoan said.
“We want brighter future for these once hopeless children,” Bonoan emphasized.
As of March 5, 2014, DSWD-NCR has registered and is monitoring 220, 029 households under the regular Pantawid Pamilya and 2,056 households under the MCCT-HSF for possible inclusion in the EAC.
Meanwhile, poor households identified in the list but did not the pass the Eligibility Check Routine (ECR) are being revalidated for possible inclusion as beneficiaries.
