MANILA, Philippines – Those interested to run in the forthcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) posts may file their Certificate of Candidacy starting October 3 up to October 5.
This is based on the Calendar of Activities listed in Comelec Resolution No. 10151.
The aspirants for the positions in the village and youth elections scheduled on October 31 are only given nine days to campaign, from October 21-October 29.
Comelec reminded the aspirants that it is prohibited to make any donation or gift in cash or in kind; construction or maintenance of public roads and bridges; use of armored land, water, or aircraft; and appoint special policemen during the said period.
Campaigning will be prohibited on the eve of elections on October 30 until Election Day.
On October 31, Election Day, voting hours in polling precincts will be from 7:00 o’clock in the morning to 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon.
The counting and canvassing of votes, as well as the proclamation of winning candidates will then take place immediately after the close of voting at 3 p.m.
Moreover, the Election Period for the Barangay and SK polls will start on October 1 and will end on November 7.
During the Election Period, Comelec prohibits the alteration of precincts or establishment of a new precinct.
Also prohibited is the carrying of firearms and other deadly weapons; use of security personnel or bodyguards by candidates; transfer of officers and employees in the civil service; and suspension of any elective local official.
The Comelec said that the period of registration of voters for both the barangay and youth polls will begin on Friday, July 15, until Saturday, July 30.
