MANILA, Philippines – The southwest monsoon or “hangin habagat” continues to be the dominant weather system affecting the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday.
PAGASA weather forecaster Norie Dela Cruz said the southwest monsoon is affecting the western section of Northern Luzon.
The weather bureau continues to monitor a low pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), she said.
The whole country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms throughout the day.
Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Extreme Northern Luzon and the coastal waters along this area will be moderate to occasionally rough.
Light to moderate winds from the southeast to south will prevail over Mindanao while the rest of the country will experience moderate winds from the south to southwest, with slight to moderate seas.
The state weather bureau has not issued gale warning so fisher folks are safe to venture into the seas.
