Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Roxas confirmed that the explosion in the Two Serendra Condominium in Taguig City was not caused by a bomb.
Unit 501B of the said condominium inside the Bonifacio Global City on May 31 was triggered by a combustion of chemical substances which is most likely from a liquified petroleum gas (LPG) according to Roxas.
He also took out the possibility of an urban terrorist attack in the said incident which killed three people on board a passing delivery van and wounded five others, including the occupant of the unit.
This conclusion was based from the results of the several procedures taken from the separate investigations made the Taguig police, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Roxas added.
Procedures include a canine walkthrough by nine sniffing dogs from the Southern Police District, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), and the Philippine Army that took turns to determine if there were traces of blast components.
Moreover, BFP’s finding showed that there was charring and singeing, but neither bomb components nor a crater was found or detected.
NBI also didn’t find power supply switch, containers and wire detonators at the site.
They also took some statements from an interview to 60 people including the tenants, security personnel, first responders, renovation workers, meter readers, and other witnesses.
