Sydney entrepreneur Marco Selorio who had long association with modern young innovative sub-culture in Australia first about youth preoccupation with American basketball sports culture in Australia, then afterwards the emerging hip hop music and dance entertainment will launch an independent record label in the New Year called Sovereign Hill Records.
After one of his discoveries Cyrus Villanueva won the X Factor in November 2015, Selorio has finally decided to blaze a new trail and provide an umbrella for aspiring young artists and musicians.
The success of his Urbanstar talent quest and World Supremacy Battlegrounds dance competitions has afforded Lidcombe-based Selorio and his music team a constant influx of fresh, new talents year after year.
“One of the great things that we do is we spot the raw talent before everyone else does. We want to see a community of young performers create, collaborate and share good music to the world. Sovereign Hill Records aims to provide these local, homegrown Australian music talents a place they can call home, “ said Selorio.
“Sovereign Hill Records is appropriately named after a special landmark in country Victoria during the gold rush of the 1850’s. We want to keep the name Australian, and we believe we will find our golden talents in the near future.”
The Sovereign Hill Records team will be composed of Selorio, Blessie Pica, Maribelle Salinas and a select group of local music producers. At press time, a list of exciting young artists and social media stars are being considered for development.
Some of the talents that Selorio has unearthed through his events and competitions in the past include rap stars Iggy Azalea and Tkay Maidza, William Singe, Jai Waetford, Genesis Cerezo, Carla Wehbe, Sarah Ellen, Jacinta Gulisano, Sheralyn Hill, Timomatic, members of Justice Crew, Beau Monga (X Factor NZ 2015 winner) and most recently Cyrus to name a few.
