LUCENA CITY, Philippine -– Graduates of technology and vocational courses or national certificate holders (NC2) were enjoined Tuesday to report at the Manpower Skills Training Center in the city to form a group and register as specialist of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Engineer Racy Gesmundo, supervising technical education skills development specialist of TESDA-Quezon, said the NC holders will undergo the TESDA “specialista” training program in preparation for future jobs.
Gesmundo said graduates and NC holders would work in the barangays as a group composed of 10 members, and two existing groups of TESDA specialista in the province would provide services such as massage therapy, manicure/ pedicure, foot spa and hair cut initially for residents of Lucena City and Tiaong town.
He said the TESDA specialist technopreneurship program aimed to help its unemployed graduates and NC holders to land decent jobs. Each of the 10 members would be provided with tool kits and uniform vests for servicing their customers, he said.
According to TESDA Quezon provincial director Rhosalie Amasona, the program developed a pool of trained and certified TESDA specialista, who would respond to demands for services of households and the immediate communities.
Amasona said the program would also provide alternative job opportunities for TESDA specialistas, who were not as fortunate to land jobs, as well as hone their skills in managing effectively their own business and develop them to become successful entrepreneurs.
