Pahiyas Festival continue to draw thousands of tourists in the Philippines

QUEZON, Philippines — Thousands of local and foreign tourists continue to flock to this summer capital town of Quezon to join and witness the annual ‘Lucban San Isidro Pahiyas Festival 2015’.
The Lucban San Isidro Festival is being celebrated here every May 15 which then become an institution in the cultural life of Lucban. It started its humble beginning as far back at 15000.
The feast is being held as a manifestation of thanksgiving to San Isidro Labrador, the farmer patron saint, for the bountiful harvest for the year.
Cristina S. Tredente, municipal civil registrar and chairman, committee on program of Pahiyas festival said, activities are now lined up for the celebration of the month-long festival.
The Pahiyas Festival features vibrant exterior decorations of each household which turned out to be a town’s competition. It also creates opportunity to showcase the town’s unique products such as pancit habhab, longganisang Lucban and other goods that are found only in this municipality.
Highlight of the said festival is the grand parade happening on May 15. Expected to join the parade are the marching band, Lucban Pahiyas Executive Committee, Sangguniang Bayan, Liga ng mga Barangay, Federation of Senior Citizens, Ms. Tourism Philippines 2015 candidates, ‘Parikitan’ Mutya ng Lucban winners and Sponsors Motorcade.
Relative to this, the municipal government of Lucban under the leadership of Mayor Celso Olivier Dator strictly implements no plastic policy in this municipality to maintain cleanliness during the celebration of Pahiyas festival.
