Quezon City, Philippines (April 27, 2017) – One of the biggest loveteams of the year 2000s will reunite as Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson star in the upcoming Dreamscape TV series “Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin.” The premiere will be seen live simulcast its Philippine airing in key areas worldwide via TFC this coming week.
They first gained popularity in 2006 when they joined the very first “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition,” where Chiu emerged as the grand winner and Anderson as the third placer. The pair received a huge following since then and their fan base followed them outside the PBB house when they began their showbiz career.
The loveteam popularly known as Kimerald, will reunite four years after their last project “24/7 In Love” in 2012, and six years after their last teleserye “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo” in 2010.
Chiu didn’t deny in an interview with ABS-CBN News that she was first hesitant to work again with Anderson, with whom she had a relationship with before. However, Star Magic Chairman Emeritus Johnny Manahan, was able to convince her.
Chiu recalls Manahan’s words: “’Isipin mo as challenge ito sa career mo since hindi ka na teenager, hindi ka na pa-tweetums, pa-cute.’”
On the other hand, in the same interview, Anderson knew that a reunion project with Chiu is inevitable. “Impossible na hindi kami magsasama ulit, kasi nag-start kami sa reality show and then 10 years later, nandito pa rin kami,” he explains.
“Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin” is the story of childhood friends Bianca (Chiu) and Gabriel (Anderson) who dream of giving their families a bright future. As they both work on reaching for their dreams, they also find themselves falling for each other.
However, fate has other plans for them. Bianca will be forced to leave the province to save her father from his illness, and from there they started living separate lives.
Anderson said that through this show “makikita iyong mga natutunan namin noong hindi kami magkasama sa mga proyekto.” Meantime, for Chiu, this is a perfect comeback offering of their love team for their fans who have supported her and Anderson despite their having different loveteams.
Aside from the Kimerald reunion, “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin” is also a reunion project for the cast of the 2009 TV series “Tayong Dalawa” which stars Chiu, Anderson, and Jake Cuenca.
In the series, Cuenca gives life to Carlos, a businessman and triathlete who hires Bianca as the model to boost the income of their company, despite the objection of his colleague and ex-girlfriend Isabelle (Coleen Garcia).
Bianca and Gabriel’s paths will meet again during a triathlon event hosted by Carlos’ company. But their reunion will not be easy, as Carlos competes with Gabriel in winning Bianca’s heart.
Also starring in the upcoming series are Gina Pareño, Bing Loyzaga, Ayen Munji-Laurel, Michael De Mesa, Daniel Fernando, Dante Rivero, Nicco Manalo, Ivan Carpiet, Andrea Brillantes, and Grae Fernandez. The series will also serve as the directorial debut of Dan Villegas in a teleserye, together with director Onat Diaz. While it was written by Noreen Capili and Anton Pelon.
