MANILA, Aug. 22 – Aspirants for the 2016 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections will be able to file their Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) on October 3 to 5, 2016 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Office of the City/Municipal Election Officer who has jurisdiction over the barangay where they seek to be elected.
Comelec Spokeperson James Jimenez said that filers usually swarm local Comelec offices on the last day. “Candidates are fond of last-minute filing. Please do not wait for the last day to file your COCs so that you will still have time for corrections in case there are questions in your COCs. Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said.
“Make sure that all the required documents are ready when you file. The COCs should be originally signed and sworn to before a notary public. Aside from the passport-size photo, a documentary stamp should be attached to an accomplished COC.” Jimenez added. The Spokesperson further said that the COC can be filed personally or through a duly authorized representative with a sworn and signed Authority to File COC. COCs sent by mail or fax will not be accepted.
3,093,023 voters registered for the October 31st polls. The campaign period will run from October 1 to November 7, 2016.
