Hero dog Kabang returns home to Zamboanga City

Hero dog Kabang returns homeThe Philippine dog Kabang receives a hero’s welcome as she returns home in the country after treatment in the United States.

Kabang, a two-year-old injured mixed breed lost her snout and upper jaw saving two girls’ lives in December 2011, when she jumped into the path of a motorcycle, stopping it from running over her owner’s daughter and niece in southern Zamboanga city.

She was accompanied by Dr. Anton Lim, a Filipino veterinarian when she was treated at the University of California Davis veterinary hospital for seven months with $27,000 in donations raised in the Philippines and abroad.

The hero dog seemed to look healthier and more cheerful after undergoing a grueling five-hour reconstructive surgery to close the wound on her face to prevent her from being infected because of an open wound.

The residents of Zamboanga City will be giving a hero’s welcome to the now internationally famous dog where they have readied a motorcade and a meet-and-greet for Kabang.

Kabang will now be staying back with her owner, Rudy Bunggal.

Meanwhile, the group Care for Kabang mentioned that the hero dog will go on a VIP tour of the country to support education on proper animal care and animal rights.
