International student David Joshua delos Reyes, Chairperson of Filipino Student Council of NSW issued a greeting and invitation to support a youth summer camp called Kamp Hiraya 2022 set on 7th-9th January at Youthworks Port Hacking Conference Centre in Sydney, NSW.
‘Hiraya’ means ‘to dream’ in our very own language and have long-planned for an event where Filipino student leaders across Australia will gather under one roof to dream for our future as the Filipino diaspora.
The Filipino Student Council of NSW is a non-for-profit organisation based in Sydney whose vision is to promote Filipino culture in the Filipino-Australian context and create opportunities for Filipino-Australian youth and students to learn more about their culture, their potential and share their own experiences to impact the lives of others, Delos Reyes said.
The invitation was made in a letter by student leader Delos Reyes in a letter to Mr. Jun Relunia. President of Philippine Australian Socitie of Senior Citizens Inc. (PASSCI) and to Mr Edouard Alcordo, President of Australia Philiipine Business Council (APBC).
Delos Reyes said, “We are aiming to at least have 80 student leader delegates from different Filipino student organisations. As big as we want it to be, we do acknowledge the fact that we are a group of students and we have financial challenges as a group. We kindly ask our titos and titas, ates and kuyas among the Filipino community to be with us and support this ‘hiraya’ of our young generation.”

Delos Reyes is offering sponsorship packages which outline deepere details about the camp.
Delos Reyes said, “If we believe in the very words of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, ‘The youth is the hope of the nation’, then we highly encourage you to help us make this dream come true. Together, we shall plant seeds and reap its bountiful harvest in the future..
