Appin’s Rey Montano Wins RDV Cup at Fox Hills

RDV Cup 2020 with Vans thumbnail[36196]RIC DE VERA – Avid golfer Rey Montano from Appin and member of Lakeside Golf Club  won the third RDV Charity golf cup held  at Fox Hills Golf Club on Sunday, December 27, 2020 to celebrate the 77th birthday of this writer..

Montano  scored 41 points under the stableford system of scoring using his AGU handicap of 12 and winning via count back. He was awarded with annual trophy, the privilege to engrave his name in the monumental perpetual trophy plus $150 cash. “(Am) Happy to have a good game and win the Charity cup. A great opportunity to socialize and catch up with other Filipino golfers.” he finally said.

Division winners with their scores and handicaps used were: Janel Diaz (41/16 CB) for A and Jun Gonzales (38/29) for B. These winners received $100 cash prize each.

Division runners up with their scores and handicaps used were: Bernard Bravo (40/19) for A and Oscar Canda (36/24) for B. These runners up winners were awarded with $50 cash prize each.

Lady winner was Laura Marquinez with score of 29 points using her social handicap of 21. She was awarded $50 for her best efforts.

Novelty hole winners for divisions A & B on all par 3 holes were awarded $20 each as follows: Hole 3 Ray Rodriguez (A) & Rene de Leon (B); Hole 5 Ray Montano (A) & Willie Tan (B); Hole 11 Rommel Gaerlan (B); Hole 15 Romeo Morales (A) & Bert Castro (B) and Hole 17 Lorenzo Aquino (A) & Rommel Gaerlan (B)..

This writer in his welcome remarks thanked all the golfers for their support to the 3rd RDV Charity cup to raise funds while playing the game of golf that we all loved. Special mention to all the hole sponsors and to Ed Montero for donating the annual trophy on top of sponsoring two holes. He also thanked Vangie Leones for painstakingly organising the event assisted by his loving husband, Bobby.

On her part, the organizer Vangie Leones thanked all the 71 golfers coming from different social golf clubs who played as well as the sponsors. She finally congratulated the winners, announced that this will now be an annual event and invited everyone to come back again next year.

After the awarding, this writer presented an envelope containing $1000 to Vangie Leones, PCC-NSW Director. Subsequently, an amount of $300 donated by Albert Dionisio (Jokers founding President) but unclaimed was added to this amount.
