Pete Enriquez from Holsworthy won the 2018 Filcos Fairfield fundraising golf tournament held at Rosnay Golf Course on Sunday, October 21, 2018. He scored 42 stableford points using his social handicap of 32 and winning by count back. He was awarded with mumental trophy plus $450 cash prize and the privilege to engrave his name in the perpetual shield. “Am just so happy to win as I seldom join the tournament nowadays. Sorry that I had to leave early for family commitment” said Pete over the phone when advised about his winning.
Grade winners with their stableford point scores and handicaps used were: Jonathan Parva (41/15) for A and Romy Morales (42/22 via CB) for B. These grade winners were awarded with mini trophy and $200 cash prize each for their fantastic efforts.
Grade runners up with their stableford point scores and handicaps used were: Cris Abalos (40/18) for A and Russel Gaerlan (39/20 for B. These grade runners up were awarded with medallion and $100 cash prize for their best efforts.
Novelty prizes were also awarded to the winners by division on all eighteen (18) holes at $20 per hole, whether nearest the pins (par 3’s), longest drives (par 5’s) and best drive & pitch (par 4’s). Those holes not won were enthusiastically raffled.
Before the start of the tournament, all golfers were treated with hot coffee or tea and were handed with packs of sandwich, bottled water and fruits. After the tournament, a sumptuous BBQ lunch with desserts courtesy of Filcos Fairfield officers and volunteers were served to the delight and enjoyment of all participants.
There were 46 supporters who participated in this annual fundraising golf tournament which is now on it’s seventh year, despite the inclement weather and the absence of cart due to wet fairways.
Before the presentation of awards, Cris Bacucang, the tournament coordinator, thanked everyone for joining this year’s series and invited them to join again next year. The incumbent Filcos Fairfield President Wilma Bacucang congratulated the winners and thanked all the volunteers who did the cooking and brought along their favourite desserts.
The tournament was sponsored by Fairgolf Social Golf Club and the proceeds will go towards the various ministry projects of Filcos Fairfield, Inc. The golf balls awarded were donated by Dincel Construction System.
