Pregnancy Issues, Abortion issue, oust Duterte Issue, boyfriend issue and many more.that creates divisiveness and hate, this was how a sympathetic blog site described the continued character assassination being hurled against incumbent Philippine Vice President Leni Roberto.
Now shortly after the recent filing in Philippine House of Representative of an impeachment complaint against sitting President Rodrigo Duterte the president’s followers were quick to pre-empt the situation by preparing another impeachment complaint against his vice president and nominal head of political opposition Leni Robredo.
The proposed move against Vice President Robredo is led no less by Speaker of the House of Representative Pantaleon Alvarez, and currently fourth in the Philippine presidential succession. This conflict was earlier presaged by intense cyberspace campaign vs Robredo since the 2016 presidential election.
In an innocuous reply to the press, Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel Jr. referred to Speaker and leader of what is referred to as congressional ‘Super Majority” Mr Pantaleon Alvarez as a “sleeping giant” awakened by the current posturing against the Duterte administration.
Senate President Koko Pimentel is the immediate beneficiary and prescribed by law to succeed VP Robredo in case she is impeached and Speaker Alvarez a strong candidate for a remote question of presidential succession, during the present presidential term of office up to year 2022.
PH Good Governance web site said whatever Vice President Robredo does would end up to made up stories full of hate and posing comments and statements without fact checking, without gathering evidences and with hate already evident.
PH Good Governance site asked “Aren’t we bothered by what people has become, full of hate and posting comments and statements without fact checking, without gathering evidences, the type that are heard only from whoever, especially those paid bloggers and page.”
Lenileaks, is the Philippine version of Wikileaks, or the leak of alleged email conversation of the staff of Vice President Leni to some of her avid supporters regarding a plot to unseat President Duterte, making her succeed the Presidency.
In an interview with Philippine press, Vice President Leni said that she would rather put all her attention on her job than dignify the allegations regarding Lenileaks, or her alleged involvement in the plan to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.
“For me, as much as possible, I want to concentrate on my job, because I think there is a lot of viciousness now in the internet”, the Philippine Vice President said.
She also claimed wrong the reports that she had recently met or talked to Filipino-American philanthropist Loida Nicolas- Lewis, who was earlier tagged in an alleged plot to remove Duterte from post.
GMA 7 said Lewis is a Bicolana like Robredo and is a known supporter of the Vice President and the Liberal Party’s standard bearer in the May 2016 elections, former Senator and Cabinet member Mar Roxas.
Recently, the Facebook page “We are collective’ published the page Nagaleak which disputed the long held high public regard on the late Jesse Robredo former Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government and before that three-term Mayor of Naga City. Nagaleak website was subsequently taken down as such the anonymity of the source and the content of what is alleged as expose on the Robredo family became the object of public debate between two sides.
Publisher and supporters of Nagaleak disputed the long recognized achievement of the late Jesse Robredo as awardee of the respected institution Ramon Magaysay Award as recipient of the RM Award fot Government Service..
In answer to the press, Vice President Leni said this is where she is drawing the line where her detractors have drgged the name of her defenseless late husband in attempts to discredit her.
She said she kept silent about other attacks against her, but couldn’t kept to hereself after the name of her husband was dragged into the fray.
Ramon Magsaysay Awards itself issued a statement which reads “In view of anonymous allegations raised in a recent blog called “collective.com.ph”, which insinuates that the Ramon Magsaysay Award was given to Jesse Robredo as a result of the PR work and lobbying of a so-called “Gabby Bordado”, who was involved in RMAF’s review, deliberation and selection of Jesse Robredo the trustees of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF) wish to clarify the following:
1. The allegation that Jesse Robredo won the Magsaysay Award because of some person’s lobbying efforts HAS NO BASIS IN FACTS. There is no person by the name by the name of Gary Bordado (as cited in re collective.com.ph blog) who was invlved in RMAF;s review, deliberation and selection of Jesse Robredo as the 2000 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Government Service
2.To safeguard the integrity of the Ramon Magsaysay Awards, the guiding principles and practices of RMAF for the past 58 years have not allowed any lobbying, PR or any similar attempts the annual selection of the Ramon Magsaysay Awardee. Any such attempts, whether in the nomination or the selection process have been quickly and firmly sanctioned.
The RMAF through its President Carmencita Abella said the Foundation caution readers to fact check anonymous and undocumented claims about the Ramon Magsaysay Awards, in order to avoid erroneous and unfair conclusions about the Ramon Magsaysay Award and/or the Ramon Magsayay Awardee.
