SYDNEY FIL-AUSSIE GOLFERS recently made their marks in the prestigious annual Fil-Am Invitational Golf tournament held in Baguio City on November 25 to December 10, 2016.
Cris Bacucang from Fairfield and regularly plays with Phil-Oz Golf Inc. (Pogi) and Fairgolf Social golf club won as Individual champion in the Seniors Division Group 9 with his unbeatable total score of 86 points for four days games at both Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club.
Bacucang was a member of Fairgolf Club of Sydney Senior Team that participated in the 67th Fil-Am Invitational in Baguio City. He overtook the rest of 85 golfers under his group.
“I’m so happy to win this prestigious trophy and as my gift for my 62nd birthday” said an ecstatic Cris. He just celebrated his birthday at the start of the tournament on November 24, 2016. Other Fairgolf of Sydney team members are Manny Castillo, Ed Montero, Noel Manansala and Ric de Vera (team captain).
The Macquarie Links of Sydney Fil Team captained by Jeremy Zabat won as 2nd Runner up in its division C by scoring total team points of 360 using stableford system of five to play and four to count method.
Top scorer was Neil Narvais with 106 points, followed by Ross Sandoval with 96 points, Romy Costelo with 61 points, Obet Bolina with 60 points and Jeremy Zabat with 37 points. “I’m so happy that our team won in this annual event which have been participating by us for over a decade now” said team captain Jeremy.
In another win, Ed Montero of Fairgolf Club of Sydney Senior team won the major prize in raffle for New Toyota Car courtesy of Toyota. “I’m so excited to win this major prize in raffle even though I did not play well in my golf game” said a surprise Ed.
The Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament is an annual event which is now on its 67th year and considered the 2nd oldest and well attended golf tournament in the Philippines today. There were over 1250 golfers who joined this year’s tournament coming from all over the world and spread over two-week period from November 25 to December 10, 2016. It was presented by San Miguel Corporation and sponsored by Toyota among other sponsors.
